Semi-opaque glass are formed by casting clear bullseye’s frits with lost wax and burning wooden material method from imperfect plaster mould, 8 pieces in total and divided by half. Lastly, refined from flatbed to 800 grits wet and dry papers by hand.
The idea was born and kept in mind before I started my MA in 2022. It could be traced back to the date of delayed luggages when I first came to Swansea. One of my favourite plate, the black glazed ceramic plate separated herself into pieces and loads of powdery substances after long haul transporting. It was always remained in mind as a “new beginning” and finally physically exists after numerous failures in clay, wood and wax modelling.
White, opaque or translucent, colour of reflection that compatible with everything and that of nothingness. Let the light speaks, the continuum of “Synecdoche”. It can be enlightenment, light, moon, cloud, mist, fog, pouring rain, ripples, cotton, linen, snow, glacier, washi, blind spot, the absence, paper or even tear gas; depends on your interpretations that solely based on your own state and experience.

lost wax/
pouring wax to wooden dome surrounded with plastic pipes, follow by steaming wax in plaster mould after curing. glacier shapes and bubbles are born from bowing pipe after several attempts.
wood turning & burning/
thinly turned plates were becoming oval after soaking in water before plaster mix was poured, yet wood grains are well remained inside the egg even after burning in plaster mould before actual casting performed.
